The Green India Plan

Finally the Government of India has taken the hard decision to put forests back to where they originally were! Under the Ministry of Environment the National Mission for Green India is spending around $10.3 billion to add an impressive five million hectares of forest cover over the next ten years so that the tribals and aborigines can once again depend entirely on the forest for their livelihood. An added byproduct of this Plan will be conservation of wildlife and biodiversity while at the same time ensuring that there will be sufficient carbon sequestration to combat climate change and preserve the environment.
