The Orchid - ECOTEL® receives
Golden Peacock from Dalai Lama.

The Orchid, Asia's first
ECOTEL®,
added yet another feather to its cap by winning this years Golden Peacock
National Award. His holiness, The Dalai Lama gave away a trophy and a
certificate to the CMD of Kamat Hotels India Ltd, Vithal Kamat and its technical
director Param Kannampilly at a function held at Palampur, Himachal Pradesh
recently.
The award, which was given in
the Environment Management category, was in recognition of Orchid's project of
Environment Management System both in Manufacturing as well as Service sectors .
The six categories in which
the awards are given are:
- Golden Peacock Environment
Managemrnt Award (GPEMA)
- Golden Peacock National
Training Award (GPNTA)
- Golden Peacock Award for
Excellence in Corporate Governance (GPAECG)
- Golden Peacock National
Quality Award (GPNQA)
- Golden Peacock Innovation
Management Award (GPIMA)
- Golden Peacock Innovative
Products/Services Award (GPIPSA)
These Awards have been
instituted by the Institute of Directors in association with World Environment
Foundation (WEF) for sustainable excellence in both manufacturing and service
sectors leading to improved performance.
"At Orchid, we have made it a
habit to win award. This reflects our seriousness towards the cause of
environment", Vithal Kamat said.
Commenting on it, the Director
of The Orchid, Param Kannampilly said, "it is yet another proof of the sincere
efforts which the Orchid has adopted towards environmental causes". "We will
continue our endeavor towards such causes", he added.
